The world economic condition has affected the pharmaceutical market badly and Johnson & Johnson is also going through a bad patch. The management is filled with people who have forgotten the real reason for the existence of a pharmaceutical company and only think about profits. No one is interested in the research wing which is the real identity of the company. I am a scientist and I feel let down by the lack of respect that I get here regularly.

The only reason I am still working at Johnson & Johnson is because the pay is decent and the company gives me some good benefits. Somehow the good things end here and I am working under a weird manager who has never given me any positive feedback nor tried to guide me in any of the work that I do here. The guy always behaves as if I do not exist and pushes some work at me through someone and disappears from the office with his personal work. I am really confused about his expectations.

The people in senior positions are mostly from other companies who do not understand the need to constantly innovate or we will soon lose our position in the market. I am working here for the last ten years and the morale is at an all time low among the employees only because no one is guiding us in our jobs.

I am very sorry to say but J&J is one of the most racist employers I had. There was a subtle discrimination against people of color as well as women. They have a company policy against it, but when it came to implementing it, only lip service was done. Layoffs are done without rhyme or reason. It was too much for me and even the good pay packages and the decent benefits could not hold me in there as I was not getting the respect or the recognition that I deserved.

The company has to change and I have to say that we have some age old policies here which are too obsolete in the present industry. Working in Johnson & Johnson has given me a chance to experience working in one of the most famous companies in this world. This has given me a sense of pride as well as security. Unfortunately my salary does not match to present industry standards and the company does not offer any great benefits. But I enjoy the flexibility I get in my work here allowing me to adjust my schedules according to my wish and allowing me to achieve a great life and work balance.
