I was working in the same vertical for the last nine years at Oracle and this year I wanted to change my role. This has turned out to be a big misake. Changing the role was easy but the problems started afterwards. Though I have moved from my earlier role I still have to fulfill some of my earlier responsibilities because still now no one has been given that position. This means I am overworked with the responsibilities of both roles.

The market is slowly picking up but the mangement has already declared a freeze on salary this year. The same problem was there last year also. What they fail to realise is that we need money. I have no idea how I can meet the increasing expenses if my salary doe not increase. I am sure the honchos do not face such problems.

I have been in this company for long now and the thing that saddens me the most is how it is going down! There is nothing new happening in the company and the systems we use in here are totally backdated. Employees have low morale and the managment seems to be sleeping. Hope they wake up in time!

I worked here for about 10 years. I mostly enjoyed my time at Oracle, especially during the Dot Com rise in the 90's. The environment there changed dramatically after the Dot Com bust though. There were layoffs and hiring freezes, and everyone had to do more with less. There was also a period of four years with no salary increases. That was the final thing that convinced me to move on.
Some of the management there was really good, but a lot were not. That made it frustrating a lot of the time. I think the company could definitely benefit from staff and management training, but there was little opportunity for any training that could improve one's career growth opportunities.

I have been working at Oracle for 3 years now and being in the sales department I can tell that business is real slow. We have a strong base so we may not have to go for layoffs but the company may have to go for pay cuts. The expenses have increased a lot in the last few months and it is already difficult to make both ends meet. If my salary goes down then it will be impossible for me to support my family.

There isn’t much to say about the working conditions at Oracle and being an employee here I feel that the management is mainly responsible for this. There is no parity between the policies executed by people in controlling positions. I work very hard but my boss refuses to acknowledge any of my efforts and keeps on pressurizing me to perform more and more. I never get any raises and whenever I ask questions about this I am told that the company is not in a favorable position.

Oracle is a place where the most hardworking person will become idle because of the lack of direction from the upper management. OK we have a great product but that does not mean that we can just take it easy. No one has any idea about what to do next and we just go to office as it is part of our daily routine. The place has become filled with people who are only interested in business, and technology which was the guiding force of the company is being neglected totally.

I am a very aggressive person when it comes to work and so I enjoy my time in Oracle. We are encouraged to compete with each other so that only the best comes out. This challenging aspect of the job is the main reason for sticking in though many do not like it. The pay and benefits are also quite good and at par with the best in the industry.
