I feel things are going down the drain, regardless of whether IBM acquires us or not. While some existing customers are "sticky", we aren't winning any new customers. There's not a lot of faith in the marketplace in our long-term sustainability. Good thing I don't own any SUN shares anymore.
We've got some cool new technology with all the open-source and cloud initiatives. But as usual, the issue is how to make money out of it. That's been the challenge for so many years.

This is a very difficult place to work and there is very little hope for me here. I am the kind of person who believes in working hard and not in flattering people. The management here take care of those who are their near and dear ones. Unfortunately I do not belong to that category which means I never get increments or promotions. The company has forgotten its former policy of developing their existing employees and nurturing them to advance to better positions in the company. This was the best thing about this organization and had helped it to attain a good position in the market. The management has suddenly become very stiff and I feel like this is not the same as it used be and most of the employees have become confused with this new attitude. The truth is that the fairy tale is over and though Sun was once a great place to work now it is the worst place for a genuine hard worker. The place has become filled with people who are only interested in going up the ladder without doing any grunt work. I joined here along with two other guys and though the three of us have been working as a team only one of us has been getting the good appraisals and naturally all the raises have gone his way. This is because he has been successful in greasing his way to get friendly to some guy in the management.

After a frustrating long 15 years in the company, I am not sure how long I can continue. The management seems to be made entirely of a bunch of people who have no idea of what they are doing! Golf buddy with the VP? Then only you can get promoted. It does not matter that you bundled the last deal! I have seen many of my team members and colleagues leave because they found their avenues closed. The outsourcing is also eating into the mind of the present bunch and I find it hard to boost the energy of the people working under me.

At Sun I deal with the highest technologies in today??™s market and that gives me an edge over others in the industry. My office has an extremely laid back and relaxed atmosphere and everybody does their jobs without much supervision. The pay I get here is simply great and I also enjoy all the benefits my company offers me and last but not the least I love the casual dressing at office. My coworkers at Sun also have a lot of commitment towards the company and do their job with utmost precision. Working at Sun has helped me grow as an individual.
